The Carbon Management Lab Organized by Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow Up Unit, under the patronage of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals has kicked off its sessions at Oman Conventions and Exhibition Centre. It will be held during the period from 25th  September until 13th October 2022, in collaboration with the Environment Authority and Civil Aviation Authority. The lab will focus on Energy sector focusing on electricity, oil & gas, industry, transportation, and cities & buildings.

The lab seeks to come up with an inclusive national strategy and implementation plan to achieve the Net zero goal in line with development goals in the different sectors, defined by Oman vision 2040 priorities through finding active balanced and flexible ecological systems to protect the environment, and the natural resources sustainability to support the national  economy.

The Lab shall encourage the concerned authorities to update its plans, strategies and related polices, in addition to identify the organizational framework through setting goals, indicators, and follow up mechanisms to the initiatives, expected executive projects that can support achieving the net zero in line with growth needs and requirements in the different sectors.

The lab will witness the participations of a number of government and private entities, academics, and experts.  It comes as part of the preparations conducted for Cop27 that will be held in Egypt in the coming November.

Great efforts has been made for the lab  preparations, data collections, and coordination with the concerned entities through conducting a number of meetings, and discussion panels. A workshop has also been conducted to all the lab participants in order to address the strategic approach of the lab.
