Sultanate of Oman and Kingdom of Netherlands sign a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Green Energy

The Sultanate of Oman represented by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, and The kingdom of  Netherlands represented by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, signed on Monday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in the field of green energy, which comes on the sidelines of the Sultanate of Oman participation in the  Conference of the parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27), in Egypt, Sharm El Sheikh. The MOU was signed in the Sultanate of Oman pavilion in the Conference, stemming from the distinguished relations, and the desire of both countries to enhance and develop cooperation in the field of green energy. The MOU entailed the encouragement of both countries in supporting the cooperation efforts of the companies working in both countries to define export and import routes for green hydrogen and related energy resources, and raw materials between the two countries, as a gate for Europe, and consider the potential interests and industries in the full supply chain of the green hydrogen for both parties, and enhance cooperation in applying the standards and certifications of green hydrogen.
The world leaders summit has also kicked off, under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi of the Arab Republic of Egypt, which included speeches and discussions on climate issues in the presence of 120 Heads of State and Government, international personalities and experts to launch the world lead summit. 

HE. Salim Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, represented the Sultanate of Oman in COP 27, as per royal directives.

Six high-level meetings and round tables were held, to discuss three topics which are: equitable transition for implementation, food security, and innovative climate and development finance.

At the summit, the Sultanate of Oman also witnessed a number of panel discussions on the topics of climate change, and the actions taken by the Sultanate of Oman in reducing carbon emissions based on the National Strategy for the Regulated Transition to Net Zero and green economy.
