Five Million Omani Riyals Committed to Social Responsibility Projects in Energy and Minerals Sectors

In a dedicated effort to foster impactful initiatives within the realms of social responsibility, the Ministry of Energy and Minerals inked a series of agreements, totaling two and a half million Omani riyals, aimed at supporting three significant national projects. This collaborative endeavor involves seven leading companies in the sector, including Petroleum Development Oman, Occidental Oman, BP Oman, OQ, Daleel Petroleum Company, CC Energy Development Company, and ARA Petroleum.

The agreements encompass the following pivotal projects:

Ibri Public Park Project:

This visionary project entails the establishment of a groundbreaking recreational area in the Al Dhahirah Governorate, marking a significant milestone as the first of its kind in the region. Spanning 500,000 square meters, the park will be developed in three phases, featuring green spaces, water bodies, health paths, recreational facilities, and an open air theater. Emphasizing sustainability and future development, this initiative promises to enhance the quality of life for residents while nurturing community engagement.

Financing Medical Equipment for Khawla Hospital (Day Clinics):

Addressing critical healthcare needs, this initiative aims to bolster surgical services at Khawla Hospital, enabling round-the-clock operations to accommodate a projected 10,000 surgeries annually. By funding essential medical equipment for the orthopedic department and ophthalmology clinic, this endeavor aims to reduce surgical waitlists, alleviate health burdens, and elevate societal well-being.

Signing of the Khuta "Steps" Platform Project for Vocational Guidance and Career Counseling:

The Khuta platform emerges as a beacon of guidance, offering advanced career counseling services to students and job seekers. Tailored to bridge the gap between schools, higher education and employment, this initiative furnishes updated information on educational programs, training opportunities, and labor market insights. Sponsored by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals for 2024, Khuta embodies a holistic approach to empower individuals and nurture professional growth.

At the signing ceremony, key stakeholders including His Excellency Mohsen bin Hamad Al Hadhrami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, His Excellency Najeeb bin Ali Al Rawas, Governor of Al Dhahirah, and Dr. Wang Hua, Managing Director of Daleel Petroleum alongside Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Shanfari, Deputy Managing Director at Daleel Petroleum, that will be representing the other companies contributing to the Ibri Public Park project,  and distinguished representatives from participating companies underscored their commitment to advancing sustainable development goals and prioritizing community-centric projects.

Whereas on the project to finance the purchase of equipment for Khawla Hospital, His Excellency Sulaiman bin Nasser Al Hajji, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Administrative and Financial Affairs, represented the Ministry of Health during the signing ceremony. Eng. Sami Baqi Al Lawati, PDO's Technical Director, represented Petroleum Development Oman. In the Khuta platform project for professional guidance, Eng. Azhar bin Ahmed Al Kindi, Technical Director of the National Employment Program, and Engineer Yousef Al-Ajili, President of BP Oman, the will be representing the other contributing companies. During the ceremony, His Excellency Mohsen bin Hamad Al-Hadrami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, expressed pride in the close cooperation between the ministry and its partners in supporting and financing community projects.

Additionally, Governor Najeeb bin Ali bin Ahmed Al Rawas affirmed the groundbreaking nature of the Ibri Public Park project, emphasizing its significance as the first of its kind in the Al Dhahirah Governorate. Situated strategically in the Wilayat of Ibri along the main Ibri-Dhank road, spanning an area of 168,000 square meters, the park aligns with the governorate's vision for future development. Recognizing the importance of public parks as vital community spaces, Governor Al Rawas underscored their role in providing leisure opportunities and enhancing the cultural landscape of the region.

This collaborative effort underscores a shared commitment to enriching communities, fostering sustainable development, and enhancing the well-being of citizens across the region.

The ceremony featured PDO signing several agreements to finance social investment programs in collaboration with various governmental and private agencies. These agreements encompassed a diverse range of initiatives, including:

Establishing a Fruit Research Center of Excellence at the Agricultural Research Station in Sohar, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries, and Water Resources.

Funding the provision of interactive screens and surveillance cameras for 62 government schools, as well as supplying 3D printers for 100 government schools, in partnership with the Ministry of Education.

Jointly funding the Innovation and Culture Center project in Ibri with Al Dhahira Governor Office.  

Financing the lighting of six road intersections in Shaleem and Al Hallaniyat Islands, and Thumrait, in cooperation with the Dhofar Governor Office.

Equipping the Center of Excellence in Developmental Pediatrics at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital, in collaboration with the Al-Jisr Foundation.

Supporting the programs of the Endowment Foundation to Support Education (Siraj).

These agreements were signed by Sami Baqi Al Lawati, the Technical Director at PDO, and by His Excellency Suleiman bin Nasser Al-Hajji, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and His Excellency Dr Ahmed Nasser Al Bakri, Undersecretary for Agricultural Wealth at the Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries, and Water Resources.

Reflecting on these endeavors, Engineer Abdul Amir bin Abdul Hussein Al Ajmi, External Affaires and Value Creation Director at PDO, highlighted the program's commitment to sustainability and continuity in meeting society's basic needs. He expressed satisfaction in signing a new batch of financing agreements totaling more than two million and 500 thousand Omani riyals. These projects, focusing on developing community infrastructure, supporting the health sector, and advancing education and scientific research, were carefully selected based on identified priorities in each field. The agreements underscore PDO's unwavering dedication to societal progress and alignment with Oman Vision 2040.
