H. E. Mohsen Bin Hamad Al Hadrami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Swiss Federal Office of Energy in the field of sustainable and renewable energy and its technologies. The MoU aims to develop bilateral cooperation in the fields of sustainable and renewable energy and its technologies and cooperation in green hydrogen projects related to production, processing, storage and consumption, in addition to exchanging knowledge and experience on laws, regulations and policies related to sustainable and renewable energy. It also aims to integrate energy transformation value chains, trade rules, and certificates. HE. Dr. Thomas Oertle Ambassador of Switzerland to the Sultanate of Oman has signed the MOU representing the government of Switzerland.
The MoU promotes cooperation to exchange knowledge and best practices on energy and environmental policies related to the management and regulation of sustainable and renewable energy and its technologies, energy efficiency and decarbonization strategies. In addition to promoting scientific and technical research and development in the field of sustainable and renewable energy, energy transportation, storage, distribution and energy efficiency. It also facilitates possible cooperation between organizations and companies in both the Sultanate of Oman and the Switzerland, and create appropriate channel for the development of cooperation between both countries in the sustainable and renewable energy supply chains.
With regards to the signing of MoU, H.E. Mohsen Bin Hamad Al Hadrami, Undersecretary of the Ministry, said: "This agreement comes as a result of joint efforts between the Oman Swiss Federal Office of Energy the field of renewable energy and its technologies within the framework of the global shift towards energy sustainability and promoting innovation in this vital field. The MoU represents an important step towards achieving the goals of developing clean and sustainable energy sources, promoting progress in the field of renewable energy, stimulating innovation and scientific research, and reflects Oman's commitment in reducing carbon emissions and achieving net zero, which in turn will contribute to the current global efforts to address the issue of climate change."
