Oman Electricity and Energy Conference kicks off

Under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Ali Amer al Shidhani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications, Oman Electricity and Energy conference has kicked off during 6 to 8th June 2022, in Oman conventions and exhibitions center. 


The conference focused on five main themes: the future of electricity and energy in the Sultanate, renewable energy technologies and solutions, energy storage, the future of transport network in line with the latest changes witnessed by the sector, energy efficiency, and asset management. The conference discussed a number of topics such as Oman Energy market, renewable energy resources and storage solutions, electricity network future, energy management and efficiency, assets management and enhancements in addition to case studies, and discussion panels. The new challenges facing the electricity, energy, plans and strategies, and expectations  in the electricity and energy industry  has also been  discussed by experts  and regional policy makers. 

The Director General of Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Engineer Abdulaziz bin Said Al Shaidhani, in the Ministry of Energy and Minerals  said that the Ministry works on policies enabling the field of energy and green hydrogen. He added that there are a joint effort with the competent authorities to implement the royal decrees related to Hydrogen. 

More than 350 participants and specialized persons have participated in the field of electricity and energy. The conference has accompanied with three workshops, the first about renewable energy projects, and its impact over the electricity transition network, the second on the hydrogen projects and the third on the energy efficiency. 

The conference was hosted by the Ministry of Energy and Minerals, and Oman Society of Engineers, along with its strategic partner Nama group, in addition to the sponsoring companies like Siemens, Solar Wadi, safe line, and Fortescue Future Industries. It was attended by representatives from  PDO, OQ, Majan Electricity company, Tanweer company, 
Muscat Electricity Distribution Company, 
Alshawamikh Oil Services  which has provided a platform for dialouge and exchange of ideas, i addition to building cooperation in the middle of fast growing sector.
