What does enhanced productivity mean? What are its expected outcomes? And what are the available opportunities after its application?

The Enhanced Oil Recovery EOR is one of the modern methods used in increasing the extraction of the Oil amount from the Oil field that it might reach 60% or more. EOR comes after the primary recovery stage that means depending on the sufficient normal pressure level inside the oil reservoir for production or secondary recovery stage in which the water flooding or gas injection is implemented or through using different types of pumps through which the pressure level is maintained inside the reservoir and therefore increasing the production.

Once these levels become less effective, or no longer useful to extract more oil, different other types of oil enhanced recovery are used such as: thermal recovery, or chemical injection like polymers or miscible gas injection on other developed techniques.

In general, it means using developed techniques through enhanced oil recovery to produce larger amounts of oil. The Sultanate is considered one of the pioneering countries in implementing these techniques not only in Middle East but worldwide. The Sultanate for instance applies the thermal recovery in Mukhaizna Oil Field which is one of the few projects that uses steam in this regard. Also Qarn Al Alam oil filed is one of the pioneer projects that uses steam injection in the fractures of limestone rocks in addition to Amal west and east oilfield. In miscible gas injection technique, the Harweel project of PDO is one of the pioneering project in this regard, as the company also study the implementation of this technique in other fields. Occidental Oman is conducting a feasibility study for injection of mixed gas in Safah oil field Oman and started drilling an experimental well, while the implementing the injection of  polymer is used in Marmul field in PDO company which came out with good results.
